Find free training without wasting time
Use cost, format and date filters to find suitable learning, then check who the session is for before booking.
## Start with one learning need
Decide what your group needs to do differently after the session. For example, you may need to understand a safeguarding responsibility, manage volunteers or prepare a funding application. A specific need is easier to match than a general wish to do more training.
## Filter by cost first
Open Training and choose Free in the cost filter. Leeds Patch includes a session in this view only when its cost is recorded as free. A missing price is labelled unknown and is excluded from free-only results. Free does not automatically mean that every organisation or participant is eligible.
## Narrow by format and date
Choose online, in person or hybrid, then use the date filters. Check whether the timing works for the person who needs to attend. For in-person sessions, consider travel and access needs alongside the price. Area and postcode filters can help with local sessions, but a citywide online course may still be useful.
## Read the full listing
Open the details and check the intended audience, venue, duration and review date. Note any conditions or information that is still missing. A short listing cannot answer every question about suitability, accessibility or cancellation terms.
## Book through the direct form
When a checked booking form is available, Book your place opens that form. The provider controls availability and confirmation. Leeds Patch does not treat a click as a booking. If there is no direct form, use the enquiry option when email delivery is available. If sending is unavailable, the site will say so rather than claim a message has gone out.
## Turn attendance into something useful
Agree one action the attendee will bring back to the group. After the session, share the relevant notes and decide whether a policy, process or practice needs changing. Record that change: attendance alone does not show that the learning helped.
What this could mean
Practical steps for a community organisation; choose what fits your circumstances.
What remains uncertain
Original general guidance. It does not guarantee funding, attendance or outcomes. Check the specific provider or fund requirements.
